Today we exchange advice, parenting struggles, shopping tips and sometimes just random thoughts as regularly as we eat our meals. And while all of these exchanges are done virtually (and sometimes in just 140 characters)- over time there is a very real trust and friendship that is built from it.

The Big Toy Book is similar in that the site gives parents and gift buyers a choice and a voice in the toy world, just as your favorite forums may give you a choice and a voice in the parenting world. It’s not just a website that provides you with toy information. It allows you to easily comparison shop, shop by specific need & it is a growing community that encourages members to share their product and shopping experiences with each other.

The Big Toy Book News Room–

The snow is falling here in the New York area with no end in sight. So before we head out to build some snow men and snow angels, we thought what better way to spend a snowy morning than to post our very first blog?

After all of the fun we had this past holiday season with our friends on Twitter- there was one thing we were sure of for the New Year- we wanted to get even more social! It seemed only natural to start our own blog here so that we can share and discuss not only insights on toys, but our day to day insights as parents.

We have teamed up once again with Complicated Mama, Corine Ingrassia to help us kick things off. Together we are planning for a year filled with: Friday scavenger hunt giveaways, Twitter parties, a new Facebook site, guest bloggers… who knows what else we have up our sleeve? ;)

Our very own Toy Insider Mom, Laurie Schacht will be offering great toy insights on toy trends & tips for parents here every Wednesday. If you have any questions for her or topics you’d like to see her discuss feel free to submit them to us here.

Ok, well our kids are anxiously awaiting with their mittens and hats on.
